Nurse 2 / Nurse 2 (Psychiatric)*

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

To qualify for a Nurse 2 position you MUST meet the following requirements:

• be licensed and currently registered** to practice nursing in New York State

  AND

• have one year of post-RN licensure, clinical nursing experience.

DUTIES

As a Nurse 2 or Nurse 2 (Psychiatric) you would provide professional nursing services appropriate to individuals diagnosed with mental illness. You would provide nursing interventions consistent with the nursing process and supportive of the overall treatment plan. You may provide supervision to subordinate professional, paraprofessional and support staff in the performance of their patient care duties and be responsible for maintaining inventory standards for medicines, controlled drugs and narcotics.

NOTES

*Appointment as a Nurse 2 (Psychiatric), requires EITHER one year of post-RN licensure clinical nursing experience, of which six months must be specialized nursing experience with individuals, at least 50% of whom have been diagnosed with mental illness, alcoholism, or chemical dependency, OR eighteen months of post-RN licensure clinical nursing experience.
