Criminal History Background Checks

Mental Hygiene Law §31.35 and Executive Law §845–b require that criminal history information be obtained from the Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) before certain providers of mental health services can hire or engage prospective employees/volunteers who will have "regular and substantial unrestricted physical contact" with clients.
