Mobile Mental Health Services for Children and Adolescents

When youngsters experiencing emotional crisis need assistance,they need help right away. With this in mind, Sagamore Children's Psychiatric Center, in conjunction with the Suffolk County Division of Community Mental Hygiene Services, provides mobile mental health services. Mobile Teams provide an immediate response to youngsters and their families in their homes, schools, or other community settings.

Who Needs Help?

The Mobile Teams serve children and adolescents, under the age of 18 years, who reside in Suffolk County. Youngsters referred are generally experiencing serious problems related to family, school, and/or their peer groups. Often the situation has grown to a critical point where immediate intervention is required.

Referrals are accepted from, but are not limited to, schools, police departments, child welfare agencies, mental health clinics, juvenile justice services, parents, or youngsters themselves.

How Do the Teams Work?

The Mobile Mental Health Teams assist youngsters and their families in a wide variety of crisis situations. Our teams will respond to your call by visiting the youngsters in their homes, schools, etc.The teams provide the following services:

Who are the Mobile Team Staff?

The Mobile Teams are comprised of mental health professionals who are trained in crisis management. The teams include social workers, psychologists,and community mental health nurses.

When Do the Teams Operate?

The Mobile Teams operate 7 days per week (except holidays). The teams operate from 11:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.

Requesting Mobile Teams Services

All requests for the Mobile Teams can be made by calling Sagamore Children's Psychiatric Center at (631) 370-1700. A staff member of the Intake Department will assist you and can generally contact the Mobile Team staff within a matter of minutes. If you should need assistance at a time when the Mobile Team is not available to you, the Intake Department will assist in directing you to other emergency services that may be available.
