Information for Military Personnel & Their Families

In recognition of the contribitions made by the Armed Forces of the United States – – The Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, National Guard, and Reserves – – the New York State Office of Mental Health thanks military personnel and their families for their dedicated service.
We are proud to offer outreach, information and referral services, and counseling to support service members, their families, and veterans during deployment, reintegration, and post–deployment periods.
Publications
OMH has published many brochures, toolkits, and items that address issues involving military personnel and veterans such as depression, bipolar, post-traumatic stress disorder.

The U.S. Army's collaborative effort with America's communities to support the children and youth impacted by deployment. - Strategic Outreach to Families of All Reservists
SOFAR NY serves the extended families of National Guard and military Reservists by providing community outreach, mental health support, and education services--with complete confidentiality and at no charge. The all-voluntary organization is comprised of licensed mental health and business professionals. SOFAR NY is an acronym for "Strategic Outreach to Families of All Reservists". It is an active member of the Veterans Mental Health Coalition of New York and cooperates with a variety of other organizations in the New York area, including the Advanced Specialization in Couple and Family Therapy at the New York University Postdoctoral Program, Central Synagogue, and the Mental Health Association.
